March is one of my favorite months. Spring is on the horizon, the promise of rosé shipments is near, and a whole new lineup of fabulous new wines and fresh vintage releases is arriving on our shelves. After months of rich reds and broad whites, we’re looking forward to fabulously balanced and bright new selections.
WS SPRING FAVES!
Couly-Dutheil, Chanteaux, Blanc, Chinon — A bouquet of mineral notes and citrus aromas. Dry, with a decadent fruited palate. Round and vibrant with melon, white pear, and pineapple. $34
JC. Calvet Cremant de Bordeaux, Brut Classic — Crisp and slightly yeasty nose with aromas of yellow fruits and brioche. Very fine and persistent bubbles tease the mouth and finish with a crisp, dry finish. $23
Domaine Serge Laporte, Sancerre, rouge —This Pinot Noir is unlike Burgundy and Oregon, and it’s a must-try this spring. This is a light wine with aromas of red fruit. The palate is refreshing and light but bursting with notes of raspberry and a slightly spicy finish. $34
Terre Gaie, Brando, Cabernet Franc — Ruby red in color tending towards garnet, intense nose with fresh and captivating aromas of plum, blackberry, and spice. Full-bodied, rich and harmonious with a long and persistent finish. $17
Stirm Wine Co. Neptunite, Rosé, San Benito — This is not your usual rosé produced using saignée (bleeding from the red grape) method. Its dark hue possesses tangy plum and inviting aromas, and it is balanced and fresh, making you go back for more. $26
